About his artistic work

Ulf’s Tibetan Thangkhas are very complex to craft and require long process of detailed work. It takes approximately 300 hours to complete each painting. The canvases are prepared with all the necessary elements of the traditional technique, using rabbit skin glue and colors based on natural pigments with which the artist creates his own special color tones, which is part of the identity of the artist.

As an artist, Ulf follows the traditional Tibetan Thangkha canon. However, he creates his own interpretation based on the principal image and where it is placed in relation to the background of the painting. This makes his work different from other painters and for that reason each one of his paintings is unique and valued for this personal expressive touch. Each one of Ulf’s paintings is truly one of a kind in the Thangkha tradition.
