Other artistic project

Ulf Baungaard’s latest creation.

Buddhist Cultural center in San Isidro de Heredia, Costa Rica.

Next to the National Park, Braulio Carrillo, in the mountains of the Province of Heredia, the artist Ulf Baungaard has created a piece of Tibetan Art decorating the entrance and columns around the building. The place is called Monteazul (Blue Mountain) surrounded by an exuberant nature and a privileged weather that changes constantly due to its location.

This place has been the latest canvas of Ulf’s work.  He has created and painted all the designs which decorate the building. There is a temple inside and it will be used as a Cultural Center for teachings, meditation, and many other activities. Each drawing has a meaning within the Buddhist Philosophy, always, in some way, related to life, compassion and peace among all sentient beings.

Ulf Baungaard is a recognized painter of Tibetan Thangkas, who has used the original techniques for his paintings since the moment he started. He was born in Denmark and at the age of 18 he moved to Nepal to live and study this particular kind of Art. He is considered among the best painters of this kind of art.

None of his paintings are the same, he doesn’t copy, not even his own work, and each painting has its own character according to the person who orders something specific. He makes his own canvas and colors with natural pigments.

Ulf has made an exhibition in Copenhagen, Denmark in July 2010. Almost all his paintings were sold. He has chosen Costa Rica as the place for inspiration of his work and you can see the serenity and beauty   reflected in his Thangkas.
